NIMBUS WEATHER STATION - HARDWARE DESIGN FILES
Licensing and third-party notices
================================================================================

This archive contains the KiCad hardware design for the Nimbus weather
station: schematic, PCB layout, custom component libraries, generated
manufacturing files (Gerbers and drill files), and the bill of materials.

Design revision: 1.0.0

                   were made.

NONCOMMERCIAL - You may not use the material for commercial purposes.

SHAREALIKE - If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you
must distribute your contributions under the same license
                   as the original.

2. WHAT THIS PERMITS - FABRICATION
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the avoidance of doubt, this license expressly permits you to send the
schematic, layout, or generated manufacturing files in this archive to a
printed circuit board manufacturer and to have boards fabricated and
assembled for your own personal, educational, research, or evaluation use.
This includes having a fabrication house produce boards on your behalf,
which is the normal route for prototype quantities.

What the NonCommercial term restricts is selling boards built from this
design, or incorporating it into a product offered for sale. Building one
for your garden, twenty for a classroom, or a handful for a research
deployment is fine. Manufacturing them to sell is not.

Assembled Nimbus boards are available for purchase from the project website
above. If you wish to manufacture or sell hardware based on this design,
contact alxlabs@gmail.com to discuss commercial licensing terms.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. KICAD LIBRARIES
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This design was created using KiCad and draws on the official KiCad symbol
and footprint libraries, which are licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0 with the
KiCad Libraries Exception:

    https://www.kicad.org/libraries/license/

That exception waives the share-alike article with respect to electronic
designs created using the library data and to files generated from them.
Consequently, use of the KiCad libraries imposes no licensing obligation on
the Nimbus design itself, and the terms in section 1 above apply to this
design without restriction from that source.

The exception does NOT extend to redistributing library files as a
collection. See section 4.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. CUSTOM COMPONENT LIBRARY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Components folder contains schematic symbols and PCB footprints for
parts not present in the standard KiCad libraries.

Symbols and footprints in that folder that were drawn for this project are
copyright (c) 2026 Oleksiy Lutsenko and are released under the same
CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 terms stated in section 1.

Certain symbols and footprints used in this design were obtained from
SnapMagic (formerly SnapEDA). Under SnapMagic's terms, those model files may
not be redistributed as standalone library files, and they are therefore NOT
included in this archive. The affected parts are:

 SWT0325

If you need to edit those symbols or footprints, download them directly from
https://www.snapmagic.com/ under SnapMagic's own terms. The schematic and PCB
layout in this archive already contain the necessary geometry, so you do not
need them to fabricate the board, inspect the design, or generate
manufacturing files.

SnapMagic's terms permit distributing circuit board designs formed by
combining their models with other circuit elements, under licensing terms of
the designer's choice. The CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license in section 1 therefore
applies to this design as a whole. It does not, and cannot, grant rights over
the individual third-party models embedded within it; those remain the
property of their respective owners and are subject to those owners' terms.
Any proprietary notices contained in the embedded models have been left
intact.

Footprint dimensions taken from manufacturer datasheets are factual
measurements and are not claimed as original work by any party.

5. BILL OF MATERIALS AND SUPPLIER LINKS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Component prices and distributor part numbers in the bill of materials were
accurate as of July 2026 and are provided for convenience only. Availability,
pricing, and part status change without notice. Verify all part numbers
against current distributor data before ordering.

7. DISCLAIMER AND SAFETY NOTICE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THIS HARDWARE DESIGN IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND,
EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF
MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE
AUTHOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE
USE OF THIS DESIGN OR OF HARDWARE BUILT FROM IT.

You are responsible for verifying the design before committing it to
manufacture, and for the safe operation of any hardware you build.

Battery safety: this design is intended for use with a lithium thionyl
chloride primary cell. Such cells must not be recharged, short-circuited,
disassembled, or exposed to high temperatures, and are subject to
transportation restrictions. Observe correct polarity; reversed connections
can permanently damage the board.

Radio regulations: the design incorporates a pre-certified radio module.
Pre-certification of a module does not by itself make a finished product
compliant. If you deploy, distribute, or sell hardware built from this
design, you are responsible for determining what regulatory approvals apply
in your jurisdiction and for obtaining them.
